Meet Liam!

Introducing our Technical Director, Liam Baldwin

What is your role in the business?
To manage all technical services within the business both hardware and software, from client integration to delivery and everything in between.

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
Managing the development, deployment and maintenance of our systems, including hardware and software, working closely with my colleagues to develop plans and strategies so client services can be enhanced, user effectiveness improved and innovation encouraged, Kaizen says it all!

Where did you work before joining the team?
I ran my own technology focused print and mailing business. I’ve been involved in the print industry my entire life and I always loved the technology side of the industry. I’ve worked mainly in pre-press and implementing web-to-print systems.

What made you join WowBooks?
I went to Andrew for some business advice, having worked for him in the past. We began talking and straight away the sparks of ideas flew and alignment of our ambitions became apparent. I felt a new found energy and excited about the vision that Andrew had. Being very technology focused myself I knew this was where I wanted to be.

What do you see as the major challenges this year?
People want meaningful products at the click of a button and we have to meet these needs and expectations. For me personally, I see challenges as solutions that haven’t been implemented. It’s making sure we know the demands that will come our way, have a plan and ensure we execute it and implement the solution.

Tell us something interesting about yourself?
My Great Grandad is Max Miller!

How do you see personalised printing evolving over the next 5 years?
I see it becoming more and more accessible, but at the same time more meaningful. What I mean by that is that it will be on all social media platforms by default, in addition to the share button for example. It will use technology to make it even easier for the user to populate and order personalised items. Already we’re seeing Instagram inspired books starting to emerge. People want meaningful gifts and products at the click of a button and we have to meet these needs.
