Andrew Balcombe – Founder of WowBooks
Aged 26, Andrew was appointed MD of TTB, a print finishing company, reporting to a PLC board. Over the next 5 years, he grew the business from 25 to 175 staff and achieved annual profits of over £1 million, unheard of for a trade company within the print industry.
In 1996, Andrew started IPS (Intelligent Print Solutions), a print management company offering clients a comprehensive outsourced solution. Over the next 10 years the business grew to a turnover of over £25 million, winning sole supplier contracts with global companies, including Sony Europe, T-Mobile and Shell. Along the way it won numerous awards for innovation and customer service. In 2006, Andrew merged IPS with a competitor, Charterhouse, to create a top 5 UK print management company. Now, as part of Konica Managed Services, their turnover is over €200 million.
Today Andrew is owner of VR Print as well as Founder of WowBooks. He is also a business mentor for The Princes Trust and is involved with The Forgiveness Project.
Richard Charnley – Head of IT
Richard previously worked in Nokia Telecoms, managing production in the £200 million UK facility. In 2001, he started developing technology for the print industry for a print management company. During this time, he has generated advanced web-based templating technology and a leading-edge print procurement solution.
Since 2005, Richard has created bespoke solutions for a variety of clients in the print industry, gaining an in-depth understanding of printing and finishing. During recent years, Richard has worked closely with HP Indigo to develop their solutions for both commercial and consumer print and has successfully implemented these for WowBooks, resulting in an automated and efficient print facility. Since 2016, his focus has been on development of API systems to provide the link between consumer websites and automated workflows.
Martin Walter – Head of Production
Martin began in the financial print sector before moving to a print finishing company and progressing to production director, overseeing 75 staff.
Martin then took on an Account Director role within print management, based on-site at a global brand, and was responsible for delivering all types of print. The lure of returning to manufacturing proved too strong and Martin has recently joined WowBooks as Head of Production, with a particular focus on the range of finishing options WowBooks offers.
Graeme Burton – Head of Operations and Logistics
